Researcher in Digital Fabrication for Constructive Systems 80 – 100 %
Join our research Centre for Building Technologies and Processes at the department of Architecture, Design and Civil Engineering at ZHAW, helping us to ramp-up and engage in new, exciting and interdisciplinary research projects.
We offer a research position for architects or civil engineers with a focus on algorithmic design methods and digital fabrication processes for sustainable constructive systems.
You will be responsible for:
- Being a core member of an interdisciplinary research project (Innosuisse 105.529 IP-ENG) developing a novel constructive system based on large-scale clay 3D-printing, collaborate with innovative industry stakeholders.
- Driving research in the area of applied digital fabrication for sustainable constructive system using alternative and low-carbon construction materials, computational design and simulation of complex material behaviors in construction.
- Supporting ongoing research in algorithmic design and digital fabrication processes.
- Writing technical/project reports.
- Authoring/co-authoring articles in scientific journals.
- Supporting/writing research proposals and taking over/supporting project lead.
- Supporting the creation of new ideas and build-up of the research team in the domain of digital fabrication and algorithmic design in Architecture.
We are looking for a widely interested and open-minded person who likes to work in an interdisciplinary team, at the interface between architecture, structural design, building systems and construction and supports our team with new ideas and excellent research work.
Successful candidates should bring:
- Master or higher degree in architecture, civil engineering, or related fields.
- Specialization in algorithmic design methods and digital fabrication processes.
- Experience in digital fabrication processes with loam, large-scale 3D-printing processes for construction.
- Experience in digital planning processes, parametric design models, integrated planning models (such as BIM), realization of digital fabrication processes in building projects.
- Experience in scripting/programming with Python (and/or Java, C++), Programming ABB industrial robots (and/or UR, Kuka), CAD and 3D-Modelling in Rhinoceros (and/or Blender, Archicad, Revit), Adobe and Office Suite.
- Fluency in English oral and written, German level B1 and above desired.
