The Institute of Particle Physics and Astrophysics at ETH Zurich, hosts a solar astrophysics group. The lead, Louise Harra, is also director at PMOD/WRC in Davos. The position is based at PMOD/WRC (www.pmodwrc.ch) in Davos Dorf, Switzerland. Founded in 1907, PMOD/WRC is concerned with the study of solar radiation and its effect on the Earth’s climate. PMOD/WRC has been involved in space instrumentation since the 1980s.

Project background

PMOD/WRC has approximately 50 staff, who work on a range of activities from research, technical and administrative. There is currently one IT administrator and we are searching for an individual to join and strengthen the IT support.

Job description

  • User administration, support in maintenance and servicing of the Windows client/server environment
  • 1st and 2nd level support and analysis of ICT problems
  • Cooperation of ICT projects and coordination of ICT suppliers
  • Installation and configuration of all clients and peripherals
  • Definition and assurance of ICT security
  • User training and documentation of the IT infrastructure

Your profile

  • Adaptable, dutiful, trustworthy and communicative personality
  • Education as IT technician EFZ and experience in ICT support
  • Work experience in the area of Windows Administration and MS-Office
  • Experience in virtualization VMware and storage systems
  • Knowledge of MS-Exchange, Mac and Linux systems is an advantage
  • Programming experience in scripting languages
  • German and English, oral and written
